A growing health threat, ignored

Antibiotics has been a big issue for many years. Almost all industrial animal farms use them to increase weight gains, rather than to help an animal recover from sickness. When you eat meat, you're eating antibiotics. When you ingest antibiotics when you're not sick, you're helping bacteria become resistant to that antibiotic.

Americans falling victim to serious infections that are resistant to traditional antibiotic treatments. Just one of them, methicillin resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA), kills more people in the United States each year than AIDS.

When it comes to your health, the federal government chooses profits. Don't trust me, trust the former Governor of Kansas, an experienced dairyman:

Apparently, the drug companies and their allies in the animal agriculture industry were only too happy to lean on friends and quietly preserve a system that, for them, is incredibly profitable - never mind the growing threat to the health of the public

The solution is to find local sources of beef providers. I know one but I'm relucatant to mention it because they're not ready to accept the demand. One that is closer is Colorado's Best Beef.

Look at the bottom of their home page. You probably don't shop there, but this type of business model is the future: everything small and local again.

If you eat meat, it is definitely worth your while to find local sources (local means within 60-100 miles of you). Remember, focusing on local sources of food cleans the air, land and water in your community. That makes your choices healthier for everyone.
