Food Fight » Industrial Agriculture » Another Reason Why Organic is Dead: Idiots!

You'll have to read this to believe it: they're ravaging the landscape because some big food processors have allowed fear to cloud their judgement.

Do you really want someone who has no farming experience whatsoever to regulate your farm and the food you're allowed to buy? And all in the name of food safety? To paraphrase Ben Franklin: "Those who sacrifice diversity for safety deserve neither."

Read the disgustipating news here. If you don't like lawyers, you might love this one:

"In 16 years of handling nearly every major food-borne illness outbreak in America, I can tell you I've never had a case where it's been linked to a farmers' market," Marler said.

"Could it happen? Absolutely. But the big problem has been the mass-produced product. What you're seeing is this rub between trying to make it as clean as possible so they don't poison anybody, but still not wanting to come to the reality that it may be the industrialized process that's making it all so risky."

In other words, farming isn't the problem it's the processing that is. The fresher the food is the better off you are. Support you local farmers! If you don't they might not be around for much longer; industrial agriculture certainly isn't. If you've read this blog then you probably have come to realize that industrial agriculture practices create soil borne pathogens simply because they have destroyed the soil.

The kind of regulations that are about to be rolled out nationwide are simply exacerbating the problem.

Compost

Compost is an excellent vehicle for carrying nutrients to your soil and plants. In a well executed compost, your garden will need no other form of fertilization.
