Food Fight » Organic » Explosive, Toxic Soy Milk

Too bad the FDA doesn't do its job. But then again, maybe those right-wing conservatives have a point: the government can't do anything right.

Leave it to the Cornucopia Institute to shine a light on part of the organic industry. The Super Trouper Lights have found White Wave making soy milk not from whole beans, but from soy powder.

So? Well, soy powder is created using a gasoline by product called hexane, which is explosive and a potent neurotoxin.

White Wave recently stopped making their Silk brand soymilk from organic soybeans. They neglected to tell anyone, but their loyal customers knew and complained about it right away.

Turns out that the report, available here, was spot on. White Wave/Dean Foods is now engaging in a heated battle. And like all PR battles, this one is loaded with spin.

What can you do? Download the report and start supporting the brands that are 100% organic. And don't bother with those private label brands either, not unless you prefer neurotoxic explosives in your food.

Compost

Just as organic matter enables soils to hold more water through the enhanced formation of soil aggregates (structure), it also allows more spaces for air between soil granules.
