First the FDA outlawed a naturally occurring substance. Not to ring the warning bell too hard, but what will stop them from outlawing other kids of food?
the FDA's letter specifically says that "to allow such an article to be marketed as a dietary supplement would not be fair to the pharmaceutical company that brought, or intends to bring, the drug to market." Fair to the pharmaceutical companies?
Yikes. It's not the first time the FDA has played food nazi. In 2005 they banned anyone from promoting the benefits of cherries. Specifically, no one can mention that "the anthocyanins and cyanidin contained in cherries, according to the latest research, help ease the pain of arthritis and gout; reduce risk factors for heart disease and diabetes; help regulate the body's natural sleep patterns, aid with jet lag, prevent memory loss, and delay the aging process; and helps lower body fat and cholesterol-risk factors associated with heart disease. Moreoever, Scientists at Johns Hopkins have found that tart cherry anthocyanins reduced painful inflammation as well as a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, indomethacin."
Nobody is to promote this info, and just because the FDA's ruling is on this page doesn't mean I'm promoting. I just want to let you wonder "what else are they not letting us know?"
Clearly, and once again, the FDA is not the least bit interested in you or me. It's all about how they can help businesses profit at the expense of our well-being. Give the opportunity, I hereby outlaw the FDA from practicing any kind of stupidity.
