Front Yard Berm
This is the only part of the yard that has changed. It's the hardy succulent area. Hardy cacti are on the left, semi-protected by a flagstone wall. On top of the mountains one can find hardy Sempervivums and Sedums, including Sedum lanceolatum, which one can find in habitat in the high country, notably at the top of Loveland Pass.
I'm working my way into he next section of yardening. It will be totally xeric. For perhaps its first two years it will be on the barren ugly side as I'm starting from seed.
Two reasons to do it from seed. One, it's cheaper than buying live plants. Two, they're going to be hardened off, meaning they're going to be hardy from the get go. Save for plants from Timberline Gardens, other plants simply haven't made it through winter. Not even some of the Plant Select plants are immune.
