Green Revolution: Failed

Remember the Green Revolution? And how it was going to feed every soul on the planet? It turns out that it was a failure and did such damage as to turn large, biodiverse chunks of land into infertile horrors that monoculture always produces.

The only green thing to come out of this revolution is cash. It's a tragedy, really, because the farmer suicide epidemic in India continues, hunger and poverty in Africa continues unabated in large part due to US involvement.

That American churches still send missionaries to Africa while American institutions such as the World Bank and IMF continue to create horrific conditions is simply insane. You have well-intentioned people (churches) who believe that any circumstance be solved spiritually see their work languor in futility due to their country's nefarious economic rape and assault of people and their resources. And those churches still think this is a spiritual problem? Surreal.

I mention this because - unless you've been under a rock the past 8 years - the same World Bank, IMF and WTO ideology has been unleashed on America. We're officially a third world country - we just haven't admitted it yet.
