Using Limited Resources Smartly
It's not just about the high price of gas, but the high cost of any kind of fossil fuel. It's not about being green, being a hippie or being a progressive. It's about resources.
Traditional agriculture is labor intensive. Industrial agriculture is energy intensive. Permaculture is information and design intensive in order to reduce repetitive manual labor and non-renewable energy.
You've seen the price of food go up dramatically the past year. The solutions will not be found in politics, but by you and me growing our own food. If every front and backyard grew vegetables we would:
- be creating food for self, family and neighbors
- using less water than lawns require
- sustainable year round source of food
- clean the air, land, and water
